Managing Independent Contractors Within an Agile Talent Strategy

On behalf of nextSource and our partners, Worksome and Chateau Consulting, we’d like to thank those who participated in last week’s webinar.  Many of you have told us that you now have a clearer understanding of ways to incorporate independent contractors into your overall labor strategy while eliminating the complexities and risks that may come with engaging independent contractors.

In the webinar, participants heard from four experts who have years of experience in delivering workforce management consulting, assistance and technologies.  After sharing original market research into buying preferences and patterns, they offered advice on getting started:

  1. Inventory business challenges you are looking to solve (e.g., specialty skills, risk and compliance, capacity, etc.)
  2. Define success factors required for engaging independent talent
  3. Gain insights from thought leaders and providers and get educated on agile solutions that leverage independent talent
  4. Design a solution that’s fit for purpose – including services and technology support – to suit business needs and achieve results
  5. Develop a plan of action – start small, gain quick wins, drive adoption, and plan for expansion over time
  6. Foster transparency in execution, communication, and collaboration
  7. Measure results and earn the right to expand
